Broadcasting

Our broadcasting track is arguably the best in the nation. This concentration brings together our scientific rigor with presentation skills honed in our Emmy-winning Television Studies Department. Students have access to industry standard technology as they prepare on air shows given in the Television Studies Department studio. Three of our students, Jared Kaplan (‘05), Sean Parker (‘06) and Brandon Wholey (‘08) have recently received the Broadcast Education Associations National “Best Student Weather Caster” award. Students are able to take classes from Jim Cantore from The Weather Channel to hone their on-air skills.

ATM core courses along with:

  • Practicum in Forecasting and Broadcasting — Credits: 1-4
  • Voice Production — Credits: 3
  • Television Performance I — Credits: 3
  • Television Performance II — Credits: 3
  • And either:
    1. Television Weather Graphics — Credits: 1
    2. Television Weathercasting — Credits: 1
    3. LSC-TV News Broadcast Performance — Credits: 3
  • Or:
    1. Course at the 2000 level or above — Credits: 3
    2. Practicum in Forecasting and Broadcasting — Credits: 1-4
